This funky designed Leather Neck Sheath has been exclusively made for Beaver Bushcraft by Shark Designs Leather and has been specialy made to house the Hudson Bay Oval Fire Steel. It has been hand cut, hand stitched and hand dyed to give this unique design a 'funky' look when worn around the neck. Even our leather thonging has been hand cut and hand dyed to match. The idea is to keep your Oval fire steel safe whilst out on an adventure. You just simply loop the leather tab through the fire steel itself and then secure with the Sam Browne fastening.

Going back as far as the Middle Ages, Fire Steels were sometimes worn around the neck for safe keeping. Back then Fire Steels were considered to be an item of importance. In the 17th century fire steels became even more elaborate in design on were often worn on a chatelaine with other items. Here at Beaver Bushcraft we are following a tradition but bringing it up to date with this funky design.  

This traditional styled  'Oval ' steel striker is used for traditional ‘Flint & Steel’ fire making. This Oval Fire Steel is based on the original steel strikers as used by the Hudson Bay Trading Company Use with Amadou tinder fungus or Char Cloth, the sparks created from this top quality steel striker will easily form an ember that can be used to ignite a tinder bundle.
