We do suggest that you need to have some experience with using a traditional ‘flint & steel’ striker as you do need a harder and more confident strike. The sharper the edge of flint the more successful the strike! The more you use these fire steels the more they become worn in and easier to use. You will also notice that they are much lighter in weight than your standard fire steel due to the Titanium. The sparks they produce are white hot and if you get the technique right you can actually hear the spark crack. We recently launched these at the Bushcraft Show 2023 and to our surprise they have really taken off! Video to follow……

These traditional classic Oval Fire Steels are based on the classic design from the Hudson Bay pioneering era. This type of fire tseel is ideal for keeping in a Tinderbox or in a Tinder Pouch.  

Our Fire Steels have been specially designed to spark efficiently when using the correct striking technique, and that optimal spark generation can only really be achieved when using a new super sharp piece of flint, as well as some good quality, and dry tinder, such as Char Cloth, Amadou or Chaga.
